Facts:
  • SimplyMEPIS comes with KDE desktop
  • According to the homepage: SimplyMEPIS just works! It is pre-configured for simplicity and ease of use, and you will be productive in a matter of minutes, even if this is your first try with Linux
  • SimplyMEPIS is a Debian based distro but with KDE desktop
  • According to SimplyMEPIS, they are compatible with all versions of Windows, which is useful for dual-booting

What I liked:
  • I felt that this distro would be really easy for a Windows refugee to pick up on and feel a sense of familiarity with
  • Pretty splash screen artwork and really nice, polished desktop
  • KDE will make more Windows users feel at home
  • Very fast load

What I didn't like:
  • I never like the whole log in process with Linux; I see no need for this on a Live CD
  • KDE desktop

Summary:
I had no major problems with this distro at all. I feel that it lived up to the claims it made. I would have to give it a A- for looks and an A- for newbie-friendliness..all in all, a very newbie friendly distro and really good for the new Linux user. I really liked this distro.
